Menopause: Not an Ending - A Beautiful New Beginning

Posted by Amelia Goff on

In this week’s episode of the Fresh Face Skin Podcast, I sat down with my dear friend and mentor, Elle Wilson, to have an open and honest conversation about menopause and perimenopause.

It’s a topic that affects every woman at some point, yet one that’s still surrounded by so much uncertainty. What I loved about this chat with Elle was her perspective – that menopause isn’t something to fear, but a natural evolution into deeper wisdom, grounding, and self-connection.

The Conversation Every Woman Deserves

Elle shared that menopause is completely unique to each woman. Some move through it gently, while others experience more intense shifts physically and emotionally. What truly matters, she said, is how we prepare.

“A wise woman begins building her inner ground early,” Elle told me. “When we nurture our emotional and spiritual resilience, we meet menopause with readiness instead of fear.”

I couldn’t agree more. These shifts often begin earlier than many of us realise – in our late 30s to mid-40s, during perimenopause – when hormones begin to fluctuate and signs like irregular cycles, changes in mood, and disrupted sleep start to appear.

Elle encouraged women to use this time to turn inward. To develop self-awareness, softness, and patience. The more we listen to our bodies during these years, the smoother the transition becomes later on.

Menopause as a New Chapter

One of my favourite parts of our conversation was when Elle reminded us that menopause isn’t an ending – it’s a new beginning.

“You are not done because you’re menopausal,” she said. “You’re evolving into a wiser, more grounded version of yourself.”

She also spoke about the importance of working with practitioners who truly listen. Elle shared her own experience using bio-identical hormones under the care of supportive, compassionate doctors. Her message was simple: trust your intuition and find what feels aligned for you – every woman’s path is different.

Nourishment from the Inside Out

We also discussed the importance of nutrition during perimenopause and menopause. Elle spoke about Dr. Ron Rosedale’s anti-inflammatory, hormone-supportive approach – focusing on high-quality fats and lower carbohydrate intake to support stable energy and hormonal balance.

From my clinical perspective, I added how crucial the quality of supplementation is. A few of my go-tos include:

  • Omega-3s like Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega Liquid, to help restore internal moisture balance, support hormonal and brain health, and reduce inflammation.
  • Cell Charge, a powerful micronutrient concentrate that supports nutrient absorption, antioxidant protection, hydration, energy, and even sleep quality – all essential during times of hormonal fluctuation.

These internal supports work beautifully alongside topical skincare, helping women feel nourished from the inside out.

Caring for the Skin Through Change

Hormonal changes can leave the skin feeling drier, thinner, or more sensitive. I shared how focusing on barrier repair and hydration becomes key through this stage of life.

My go-to for clients (and myself) is the Hydrate + Renew Me Starter Pack, which helps rebalance oil and water levels while strengthening the skin’s barrier for long-term resilience and glow.

When your barrier is functioning well, your skin can thrive – no matter your age.

Elle’s Beautiful Advice for Women Everywhere

To close our conversation, Elle shared three simple, powerful practices that have guided her through her own transition:

  1. Be kind to yourself – especially on the days you feel like you’ve fallen short.
  2. Release entitlement – it helps soften relationships and keeps you grounded.
  3. Keep developing – mentally, emotionally, spiritually. Growth doesn’t stop with menopause.

Her words really stayed with me:

“Don’t resist menopause. When you allow it, it becomes a beautiful new era — one filled with adventure, wisdom, and self-love.”

My Takeaway

Menopause is not the end of youth – it’s the beginning of deeper connection. With the right support, nourishment, and mindset, this chapter can be one of vitality, confidence, and calm.

Here’s to celebrating the incredible women navigating this season of change – with grace, curiosity, and compassion for themselves every step of the way.
