Professional skin treatments are a workout for the skin

Professional skin treatments are a workout for the skin

Posted by Amelia Goff on

So, I wanted to share with you all, my most recent skin treatment experience!

To those of you that don’t already know, I am a BIG believer in looking after your skin, not only by using high-quality ingredient-based skincare, but also by receiving regular skin treatments, by a trusted skin-expert.

Think of it like this – our homecare/skincare routine is our skins diet. The products we use on our skin each day, help to feed our skin from within – providing it with the nutrients, vitamins and antioxidants it needs, to maintain a healthy function. When we get a skin treatment, it’s a PT workout for our skin. It shocks our skin cells into functioning at their most optimal level, helping to promote new cell growth and clear any build up on our skins surface. Everyone’s skin goes through a ‘shedding cycle’… Every 32 days or so, new skin cells are formed, helping to push older cells to the skins surface… This is how we get a ‘dead skin cell build up’ on our skins surface layer – which can make our skins texture rough, cause flakiness and an overall ‘dull’ skin tone. A build up can also form a ‘shield’ on our skins surface, making it much harder for your skin to absorb the much-needed ingredients within your skincare products, meaning – you’re not getting all that you can from your home care. If we can regularly get these ‘PT workout sessions’ for our skin, it means that not only are these dead skin cells able to successfully clear off the skin surface – revealing a bright, smooth complexion, but these workouts also allow the much needed antioxidants, vitamins and nutrients to be delivered into the deeper layers of our skin, forcing our skin to ‘lift its game’ and perform at its most optimal level.

To maintain true skin health, these ‘facial workouts’, or skin treatments, are needed every 4-6 weeks.

So, back to my story – today I received the DMK Enzyme therapy, phase 1 treatment. This is the 2nd time I’ve had this treatment, but boy did it remind me of how good it truly is! This treatments focus, is to WORK WITH our skin and the way it naturally functions, helping to restore the skin back to peak condition… rather than WORKING AGAINST it and forcing it to perform in a certain way.

Enzymes are living substances that regulate health and work with certain minerals in the body to form a natural system of antioxidants that fight corrosive free radicals – which we all know, break down our healthy skin cells – causing premature ageing within the skin. Properly formulated, enzymes can remove dead skin cells, toxins and other un wanted elements from the skins epidermis using a process called ‘reverse osmosis’.

The enzymes strengthen the structural integrity of the skin to create a healthy environment for the cells to thrive in. DMK (the facials brand), is the only company in the world to utilise the beneficial effects of transfer messenger enzymes to restore your skin to its peak condition and keep you looking younger!

Where some cosmetic facial treatments may only act on the surface of the skin, Enzyme Treatments work with the skin, within the cellular level of our skin..

Enzyme Therapy exercises facial muscles and works to leave the skin feeling firm and super soft! Post treatment, the capillaries are dilated and are visible, this is due to the ‘reverse osmosis’ that occurs, due to the enzyme – which stimulates lymphatic drainage, helping to flush toxins! The new circulation creates the optimal environment for stimulating collagen production!

It makes sense that healthy skin cells, maintain a truly health skin and complexion… As they’re the little babies doing all the work!

In such a world where free radical damage is evident in everyday life, these treatments are essential for restoring our cell health and protecting them against destructive damage.

I’m aiming to have these DMK enzyme facials every 6 weeks, to create a happy home for my skin cells to thrive in.

As it comes in to Winter here in Australia, it’s also a great time to begin working on uneven skin tone and pigmentation concerns, as the Sun is having a break… I find the best way to do this, is by having chemical peels – performed every 4 weeks. The word ‘chemical’ sounds scary I know… But don’t get confused – facial peels use a variety  of natural fruit acids, to help chemically exfoliate the skins surface layer – helping to dissolve dead skin cell build-up from the skins surface; helping to smooth skin texture and lighten unwanted pigmentation and discolouration from the skins surface layers. Peels also shock the skin by dramatically altering the skins natural PH level, which in turn helps to speed up our skin cell turnover – helping to increase collagen and elastin production. Not only does this help treat and prevent ageing concerns within the skin, but also forces any pigmentation that may be hiding beneath our skins surface layers – to surface up and out. As we age, past UV damage slowly makes its way up to the skins surface – this is why as we get older, we often begin to see discolouration and sun spots appearing on our skins surface. That sun damage has been there for years but has just taken its time to surface. If we can speed up the way in which our skin cells are working within, it means our skin cells are ‘shredding’ faster – allowing damage to surface and clear faster too.

Our Overnight Treatments are definitely a way to get your skin functioning in a healthier way, using active plant and fruit extracts to help strengthen and improve various skin concerns, but professional in-salon skin treatments will take your results to the next level, making your skin work extra hard, in order to improve even more.
