Ultimate Pre-Event Skincare Routine

Ultimate Pre-Event Skincare Routine

Posted by Amelia Goff on

The silly season is ahead, so it’s the perfect time to discuss caring for your skin pre-event. Here are my top tips to keep your skin looking its best for the party season!

First, let’s remember why skincare routines matter. Setting aside time for your morning and night routines isn’t just about skincare; it’s a self-care ritual. It’s a moment to breathe, reflect, and focus on you.

As we approach the busy season of Christmas parties and year-end gatherings, these daily rituals become even more essential. A consistent skincare journey supports healthy skin function long term.

Below are my 5 top tips you can do from home to improve skin texture, tone, and hydration before an event!

1. Exfoliate

Exfoliation removes dead skin buildup, revealing a brighter complexion and smoother texture. Keeping skin hydrated helps it function at its best, softening fine lines and plumping the skin.

I recommend exfoliating the night before your event and hydrating on the day of the event!

Fresh Face Skin top picks for exfoliation

AHA Enzyme Exfoliator: Packed with plant extracts to brighten and hydrate, this exfoliator uses fruit enzymes to dissolve dead skin and rice powder to buff, softening texture and reviving your complexion.

Our founder, Amelia’s personal tip for AHA Enzyme Exfoliator (for normal-combination skin types, no sensitivity):

Apply a pea-sized amount to clean skin, massage over face and neck for 10-20 seconds, then leave on for 5-10 minutes before rinsing for an instant skin pick-me-up!

2. Hydration

Amelia’s tips for Recovery Mask, Barrier Mist & Hydration Booster (pre-event for all skin types):

After exfoliating with AHA Enzyme Exfoliator, apply a large pea-sized amount of Recovery Mask to the face and neck, including under the eyes and over lips for extra moisture. Leave on for 30-60 minutes, then rinse.

Follow with Barrier Mist and apply 1-2 pumps of Hydration Booster over the face, neck, and lips, prepping skin for makeup.

Fresh Face Skin top picks for hydration

Recovery Mask, Barrier Mist & Hydration Booster: Packed with hyaluronic acid, glycerine, aloe vera, and Vitamins B3 & B5, these products boost moisture, ensuring a plump, glowing complexion.

3. Lock in Moisture and Prep for Makeup

Whether you wear makeup or not, this step locks in moisture, giving the skin a luminous glow.

For oily-combination-normal skin: Our Reverser treatment sets a light, moisturized base, enhancing makeup longevity if applied.

For dry, mature skin: Our Soother treatment nourishes and balances, creating a luminous, fresh-faced look with or without makeup.

4. Target Puffiness

Combat puffiness and dark circles, while smoothing the skin with facial massage and gua sha. Massage after cleansing and applying oil will increase blood flow, bringing an instant glow, sculpting, and de-puffing through lymphatic drainage.

Start by waking up lymph nodes under your ears and above the collarbone for proper drainage.

5. Extra Tips:

Calm Inflammation

For overnight breakouts, Amelia’s top tip is to apply an ice cube directly to the breakout for 30-60 seconds to reduce redness and swelling.

Pre-Treatment Professional Skin Treatment

Professional treatments, like a PT workout for your skin, improve skin tone and texture, enhancing ingredient absorption for optimal benefits.

Pre-event, choose a treatment with minimal downtime focused on gentle exfoliation and hydration for an instant glow!

Our recommended Fresh Face Skin salon pre-event treatments:

  • LED Therapy: Using light to energize and balance the skin.
  • Herbal Peel: Plant-powered, scientifically-backed to energize, hydrate, and balance.
  • Lami Peel: Combines lymphatic drainage for sculpting with innovative acids and plant actives to strengthen and hydrate the skin.
