As the warmth of summer continues and we chase the sun, it's essential to adjust our skincare routines to protect and nourish our skin in relation to its environment.
At Fresh Face Skin, we believe in empowering you with simple, effective routines that maintain your skin's health long-term, allowing it to stay balanced even during the holiday season.
1. Prioritize Sun Protection
The sun's rays are more intense during summer, making sun protection essential to help prevent pigmentation and damage to skin cells and collagen fibers. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 daily to your face, neck, and décolletage, even on cloudy days. Reapply every 2-3 hours, especially after swimming or sweating. Incorporate protective clothing, wide-brimmed hats, and sunglasses for added protection.

2. Opt for Lightweight Moisturisers
Higher temperatures and humidity can increase oil production. Use a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturiser such as our Reverser treatment or Healer treatment during the day to keep your skin hydrated without clogging pores. Look for hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid and vitamins B5 and B3 to maintain moisture balance.
3. Cleanse Gently and Effectively
Increased sweat and environmental pollutants can lead to more breakouts. Use a non-stripping, sulfate-free gel-foaming cleanser such as Reverser Cleanser to remove impurities without disrupting your skin's natural oils. Cleanse your face twice daily, morning and night, to maintain a clear and fresh complexion.
4. Exfoliate Mindfully
Exposure to the elements can leave skin feeling rough and dry. Regular exfoliation removes dead skin cells, promoting a brighter complexion and smoother texture. Exfoliate 1-2 times weekly with our AHA & Enzyme Exfoliator and peel to avoid over-exfoliation, which can cause sensitivity and barrier damage.
5. Stay Hydrated
Hydration is vital, especially when sweating more in the heat. Drink plenty of water (aim for 2 liters daily) to replenish lost hydration. Include water-rich foods like melons, grapes, zucchini, cucumber, and celery in your diet for added hydration.
6. Soothe Sun-Exposed Skin
If you experience redness or irritation from sun exposure, soothe your skin with aloe vera gel or Fresh Face Skin's Hydration Booster, Soother Treatment, or Recovery Mask. These products have cooling and anti-inflammatory properties to calm and heal your skin.
7. Maintain a Balanced Diet
Your skin reflects your overall health. Consume a balanced diet rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals to support skin vitality. Foods like berries, leafy greens, nuts, and fish enhance your skin's natural glow. Incorporate supplements like Cell Charge to boost cellular nutrition and hydration.
8. Avoid Peak Sun Hours
The sun's rays are strongest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. While unprotected sun exposure for 10-15 minutes, 3-4 times a week, can boost Vitamin D, minimize long periods of direct exposure during peak hours to reduce the risk of sunburn and long-term damage.
9. Be Mindful of Chlorine and Saltwater
Chlorine and saltwater can strip moisture from your skin, leading to dryness and sensitivity. Rinse your skin quickly after swimming and apply a nourishing, mineral-based sunscreen to restore moisture and protect your skin.
10. Listen to Your Skin
Your skin's needs change seasonally. Pay attention to how it responds to products and adjust your routine as needed. If you notice irritation, redness, or dryness, provide your skin with extra support and avoid ingredients that may not suit it.
