Travelling somewhere warm and humid can change how your skin looks, feels and behaves. While you may be tempted to continue your usual routine, your skin will often need less nourishment and a little more support with sweat, oil and congestion.
Humidity increases the amount of moisture surrounding the skin. This can make the complexion feel softer, more hydrated and more supple, with a brighter and plumper appearance. Warm environments also increase sweating and may increase sebum secretion, which is why the skin can feel oilier or greasier than usual.
Dry Skin May Love the Humidity
Â
For naturally dry or dehydrated skin, humidity can be incredibly supportive. The additional moisture in the environment may improve the appearance of dryness, texture and dullness while helping the skin look more vibrant.
You may find that you don’t require as much moisturising product during the day, particularly when spending a lot of time outdoors.
Instead of layering your full routine, lighter products such as the Hydration Booster and Reverser Treatment may provide enough support.
Always finish with your daily SPF.
You may still need your Soother Treatment at night, particularly when sleeping in air conditioning, as air-conditioned environments can feel much drier.

Oily or Congested Skin May Need Extra Support
Humidity doesn’t create additional sebaceous glands, but warmer conditions can increase sweat and sebum activity. Sweat can then mix with oil, skincare, sunscreen and impurities sitting on the skin’s surface.
For skin that is already oily or prone to congestion, this may result in increased shine, small bumps or breakouts.
Hot environments have been associated with increased sweating, hydration, sebum secretion and skin greasiness.
- The Healer range is a great travel option for oily or congested skin.
- Use the Healer Cleanser 1-2x daily to thoroughly cleanse away sunscreen, sweat and impurities.
- Follow with the Healer Treatment morning and night to help balance excess oil and support skin that is prone to surface congestion.
Avoid over-cleansing or introducing multiple strong actives just because the skin feels oilier. Your routine should remain simple, consistent and supportive.
Protecting Your Products While Flying
Changes in cabin pressure during air travel can affect containers that hold air or liquid. With airless bottles, this pressure change may occasionally activate the pump or cause a small amount of product to leak.
Always place your Fresh Face Skin airless bottles inside a sealed zip-lock bag before packing them in your luggage.
Our founder Amelia’s extra travel tip is to place a small piece of Blu Tack over the opening of lighter or more fluid products, particularly the Soother Treatment and facial oils - to give your airless pump even more support in holding product, in. Then simply place it inside your zip-lock bag for added protection.

Â
This simple step can help prevent product wastage while protecting your clothing and other toiletries from unexpected leaks.
Remember, your skincare routine doesn’t need to stay exactly the same while travelling. Listen to your skin, simplify your routine where needed and adjust the amount of product you use to suit your new environment.
Our top tip: Focus on hydration, both internally and externally. Well-hydrated skin is better supported to function at its best, wherever you are.
